June 13, 2020 Newsletter

Greetings and Happy June!
I know that there is so much going on in our country today.  I want to ask  each of you to pray for our country.  We need to have healing in this time of turmoil.   I love America.  I still believe that we are exceptional.  It is my opinion that our country has made a lot of strides to right wrongs.  The fact that being called a racist is the worst thing you can call an American.  I believe that is indeed change.  In America, being a racist  will get your fired. To me that says that the racism is not systemic.
With that  said there are many things we can do.  We have the answers.  The answers are how we live our lives.  The republican point of view is a winner for all communities.  We are going to be okay.  Do not give into the whims of these groups.   The groups protest for  unity and change.  However, they don’t want change like we want change. They want power and control over us.   It is disheartening to see men kneel and bow to the protestor.  It will never be enough.  They have the spirit of Mao.   The totalitarian is never satisfied. They want our full submission.    We must not budge.   I pray for each of you to strengthened in your resolve to save our republic.

NDRW does not meet during the summer.  I would like for us to meet  during  the month of August.  Our next scheduled meeting is the fourth Saturday in September 26, 2020.  As you know we are in the process of securing a new place for our meetings.  If you have questions or requests please feel free to contact me. f.pete@me.com

DEKALB COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY – JUNE 20th BREAKFAST PROGRAM Educating Republicans and Empowering Candidates You are cordially invited to join us at the DeKalb County GOP Breakfast with:
Featured Speaker
Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald*
State of Georgia, Public Service Commission, District 4

Who Will Speak On: “How the PSC is Protecting Georgians During the Reopening of Georgia?” In thousands of instances each year, the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) is the last hope of many Georgia consumers in resolving their problems with utilities regulated by the Commission. Consumer contacts included consumer complaints and questions, media inquiries, requests for information and assistance, consumer comments regarding issues before the Commission, and all incoming calls made on the Commission’s toll-free and local telephone lines. On March 12th, amid growing concerns of Coronavirus, Gov. Brian Kemp issued an order that state employees who can telework should telework. By the beginning of April, that became a stay at home order for all Georgia residents, with a list of exceptions including work for Georgians who perform essential services and for necessities including shopping for food. As Georgia leads in the reopening of our country, join us at the June 20th DeKalb GOP Breakfast to learn how the Georgia Public Service Commission will continue its’ mission to ensure Georgians have access to low cost, reliable utility service by financially viable companies.

#DeKalbGOP *About our Featured Speaker: Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, who served 20 years as a state Representative, was appointed to the Commission in June 1998 by Governor Zell Miller to fill a vacated post and then re-elected in a special mid-term election in November 1998. He held the seat until 2002. In 2008 and in 2014, Georgians again elected McDonald to serve on the Commission. McDonald has a deep knowledge of the energy industry. He puts that knowledge to work as a member of the Electric Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and as an executive member of the Nuclear Waste Strategy Coalition. During his time on the Commission McDonald has presided over the advent of solar power in Georgia resulting in the state becoming one of the top five fastest growing in the nation for solar energy. He has accomplished this through a conservative and thoughtful free-market approach without putting upward pressure on rates and without state-sponsored financial incentives. In 2013, Georgia had virtually no solar power on the grid. McDonald was able to garner support to add 525 megawatts of solar energy to the portfolio of the state’s investor owned utility. Currently, utility companies are erecting solar power facilities that will provide a total of 4,610 megawatts of solar energy by 2022. McDonald has also supported the construction of solar facilities at six of Georgia’s military bases, contributing to national security and helping to protect the bases from future base closure proposals. McDonald is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BBA in Business. He also served six years in the Georgia Air National Guard. He owns businesses in the private sector and is married to Shelley McDonald. He was married to the late Sunny Nivens McDonald for 45 years. He has a son, Lauren, three grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
